Ronald McDonald Recognizes AbelsonTaylor for Campaign to Collect Pop Tabs
The Ronald McDonald House of Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC®-CNI) has recognized advertising agency AbelsonTaylor for its fund-raising efforts with the nonprofit’s Pop Tab Collection program. AbelsonTaylor has executed an internal campaign that motivated its employees to collect nearly 52,000 pop tabs in about three months. RMHC-CNI announced the recognition today at the Recycle with Ronald event in Cicero, Ill.
The RMHC-CNI has been running the Pop Tab Collection program for more than 11 years with several corporate partners. Last year the RMHC-CNI raised more than $40,000, providing 800 nights of care and comfort for families so they can be near their children. Pop tabs are recycled by United Scrap Metal. The RMHC-CNI receives the market value of the recycled metal, plus a charitable match from United Scrap Metal Buyers and Recyclers.
“We were very impressed with AbelsonTaylor’s ingenuity in getting employees to engage in our Pop Tab Collection program,” said Samantha Stanicek, event manager for RMHC-CNI. “We haven’t seen this type of undertaking in a while. We were also impressed with the level of commitment the agency’s team dedicated for our event.”
“AbelsonTaylor has been participating in the Pop Tab Collection program for about five years now,” recalled Danielle Jamil, who is a senior manager for AbelsonTaylor and has led the agency’s Pop Tab Collection. “This year we approached the collection program differently.”
Several members of the agency’s heartsATwork Committee came together and launched the campaign called The Power of One, which emphasizes the message that a single tab can make a significant difference in a child’s life.
The agency’s video production studio, Dose, was instrumental in developing a 40-second video that was posted online and placed in displays throughout the offices. Two videos and other campaign materials were given to RMHC-CNI for their future use. The videos will soon be posted on RMHC-CNI’s website and social channels. The Recycle with Ronald is a full-day event that occurs annually at the United Scrap Metal’s headquarters. The event included facility tours, food, and activities for the entire family.
